The R113 Tattoo Orbit Gum Popeye Comics set is one of a number of sets of fold-out comics issued by candy and gum cards during the 1930's. It is the only such issue from Tattoo Orbit and the earliest Popeye gum 'card' set being issued in 1933. Popeye first appeared in the comics in 1929 and quickly caught the imagination of the country's youth. Between the exploits of Popeye and Brutus and the affable Wimpy and Olive Oyl, Popeye always had a number of adventures to pique children's curiosity. This set is colorful and printed on newspaper-type paper, folded into comics that open. The size of the booklets is 2" wide by 2-1/2" tall.
This near set of (18/30) R113 Tattoo Orbit Gum Popeye Comics are all in VG to EX condition and very clean. The popular subject matter is portrayed in these booklets with narration. Great near set that is rarely seen in larger groups like this one.
