Auction #9 - October 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/24/2021
The N12 Allen & Ginter Fruits set is a (50) card set picturing fruits and a native child for the country the fruit is best associated with. Most of the cards are pastoral scenes of a child holding the fruit or cultivating or harvesting the fruit. The Watermelon, however, pictures an African American boy in an ages old racist depiction. The persimmon pictures an American Indian and both cards are by far the toughest to find in the set. The cards have a checklist back on them and consistently rank as one of the toughest, if not the toughest Allen & Ginter set to complete.
This lot of (13) cards represents around 25% of the set and includes the following subjects: Soursop, Papaw, Quince, Bread Fruit, Elderberry, Pomegranate, Limes, Lemon, Gooseberry, Wood Apple of Bengal, Malaga Grapes, Cranberry and Mango. The cards range in condition from VG to near-EX, averaging around VGEX and are a clean group for the set builder.
