The Lorillard Tobacco Company issued a number of sets in the late 1880's including a good number of actress sets. Most of those sets are in more of a medium size format with the exception being the N250 Actress set. The set is smaller format, measuring 1-5/8" wide by 2-9/16" high. The card fronts are colorful lithographs of the named actresses with an advertisement at the bottom for either Sweet Russet Plug Tobacco or for Blot Fine Cut Chewing Tobacco. The set numbers 25 actresses with most of the bigger names of the day including Billie Barlow, Laura Burt and Annie Sutherland.
This lot of (2) cards includes Fides Devra and Josie Hall--both of which advertise Sweet Russet Brand. The Hall card has a dot of paper loss around her skirt and the Devra card has a spot of paper loss on the back. The cards would make good filler cards for the set builder or Lorillard card collector.
