This early set of (12) cards are oversized at 2-1/2" wide by 5-1/8" high and contain images of Disney characters. This set was a very early Disney collectible and likely was the backer card of Hostess Snake cakes of different types. The set was issued around 1935 and contained many of the main Disney characters. The front of the card contained a coupon at the bottom to redeem to get a free Mickey Mouse Magazine from the Hostess Cake Salesman. The cards are often found without the coupon and are tough to find with them intact.
This lot is for a single D53 Hostess Disney type card of #11 Toby Tortoise that has an intact coupon. The blank back is clean and the card has some surface spotting which is likely oil from one of the Hostess products. This set is one of the tougher "D" types and is widely collected as an early Disney collectible.
