The Shotwell Manufacturing company of Chicago and Brooklyn issued a number of card sets in the 1920's. At lease a couple of the sets are for very early black and white movies like Susanna (E-UNC) and Molly 'O (classified as E245). Those sets are both 80 card sets. In addition, Shotwell issued a pair of Red Grange, the famous football player, cards. They were for the Red Grange movie of the early 1920's.
This lot is for a single Shotwell "Movie Stars" Candy box. The box measures about 10" by 10" by 4" and is intact with both pieces of the box. The box has some creasing and some very light separation but overall is in VGEX condition and very scarce. Since the set notes only "Movie Stars", there's no way to directly attribute it to a specific set.
