Auction #5 - June 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/28/2020
Duke & Sons was one of the largest, if not the largest, cigarette manufacturers during the latter part of the 19th century. Duke, Kinney, Kimball, Allen & Ginter and a host of other companies fought during this time to maintain and build their shares of business. To do this, they issued advertising in all manner of forms and sizes. Banners, Window cards, insert cards, leaflets and many other types of advertising were used to sway the smoker to their brands.
This lot is for a single imperial sized cabinet advertising Duke's Cross Cut Cigarettes brand. The cabinet measures a gaudy 10" wide x 16.5" wide. The cabinet has some obvious condition issues at the corners and the field of the image is a little dark to see the Cross Cut wording towards the top. The back is very clean with the pre-printed Duke details on the back.
