S.F. Hess "Creole" Cigarettes was one of the more popular brands from Hess which was one of the second tier tobacco companies of the late 19th century. Not Duke or Allen & Ginter, Not Kimball or Kinney, S.F. Hess of Rochester, New York was one of the next tier of tobacco companies. Creole Cigarettes was one of their flagship properties and a significant amount of advertising material can be found for that brand. The small N330 S.F. Hess Actress albumen insert trade cards advertise for Creole in some circumstances as well as a significant number of trade cards. The trade cards in this lot are (7) different from what is likely a larger series. They appear to have had the bottoms trimmed. The Creole brand name is printed on the top of the cards. The backs of the cards show damage where they were, at one time, pasted into a victorian scrapbook.
