R65 Goudey History Of Aviation Lot of (4) PSA-Graded Cards

The R65 Goudey Gum History of Aviation is one of the more colorful, large format issue Goudey sets. The (10) "card" set includes (5) aviators and (5) airships and measures 5-1/2" by 5-1/2" in size. Printed on thin paper, the colorful fronts are matched with detailed, biographical backs and have a pair of holes marked for punching to assemble a 10 card booklet. Since no wrappers have been found for these and owing to the large size, it is believed that these could have been point-of-sale promotions in another Goudey product or been given out for purchasing some type of goods from Goudey. Due to the nature of the paper, the set is frequently found in lower grade--creased or with corner issues.

This lot includes a group of (4) of the R65 Goudey History of Aviation cards, all of which have been graded by PSA and include the following subjects: #6 Wiley Post's "Winnie Mae" (PSA4 VGEX), #7 Howard Hughes Record Smasher (PSA4 VGEX), #9 "Over the North Pole With Byrd" (PSA4.5 VGEX+) and #10 Wings over the Pacific "China Clipper" (PSA4.5 VGEX+). This is a great lot that represents nearly 1/2 of a complete set of these oversized, condition sensitive cards.
