The R109 Gum Inc Pirates Picture Bubble Gum set is a (72) card set picturing scenes in the life of a pirate. The set was issued in 1936 and, as one can imagine, caught the eyes of America's children quickly. With the cards can also be found a small aluminum coin, about the size of a dime, picturing a Pirate with "Double Dubloon" or "Henry Parker" on the front advertising "one with each piece of pirate picture gum" on the back. It's unknown if the coins were in the packages with the gum cards or if they were issued and handled separately through some point-of-sale redemption.
The coin in this lot is in VG to VGEX condition. The coin has been placed in a plastic coin holder. It would make a great addition to a 1930's gum collection as a tangent piece of advertising or for any gum redemption collection.
