The S140 Silk designs on Oilcloth is an interesting set that's included in the silk section of most guides. They look like leathers but are, in fact, printed on oilcloth that is stained to look like leather. There are different subsets within the S140 classification to include the Indian Portraits, Bathing Girls, butterflies, Domestic Animals and National Flags. Each of these subsets include (6) subects with a total of (30) subjects for the complete S120 series. The silks have neither manufacturer on them nor any identifying marks, so they are difficult to find when searching.
This S140 Silk Oilcloth "Indian Portrait" tobacco silk is in EX to EXMT condition and is one of a group of (6) Indian portraits in the complete subset of S140 silks. Great type silk for the collector.
