In addition to inserting cards into early packages of cigarettes in the 1880's, Allen & Ginter also inserted coupons as well. The coupons typically advertised for their albums that could be had in exchange for a number of coupons--typically 50 to 100 coupons to get an album. There are a couple dozen different albums and a similar number of different coupons that can be found that originally came in Allen & Ginter packages.
This lot is for a group of (8) Allen & Ginter album coupons. These coupons are all the same and advertise for a number of A&G albums that could be had for 100 coupons. These albums include (in order of advertisement on the coupons) the Washington album, American Indian Chiefs album, Second Series Champions album, Birds of America album, City Flags album and the Game Birds album. The backs of the coupons note (8) different locations where the coupons can be redeemed for the albums or sent via mail to Richmond, VA.
