The N375 Ellis Tobacco Breeds of Dogs series is a set of (25) cards issued by Ellis Tobacco with three different brands of their cigarettes--Triplex, Bengals Cheroots and Tiger cigarettes. The cards in the set can be found with bottom front advertising for each of these three brands offering up a total of (75) different variations for the set. Arguably the most beautiful dog cards of the 19th century tobacco cards, this set is very popular with collectors.
This lot is for a group of (13) Ellis Tobacco Breeds of Dogs. Condition of the cards runs mostly F to GVG with the majority falling into the Good range. One card has had the advertising frame at the bottom of the card trimmed. Of the (12) remaining cards, (7) sport advertising for Tiger Cigarettes and (5) have Bengal Cheroots advertising. This lot would offer a good start to a lower grade complete set of the series.
