The N555 Buchanan & Lyall Black Joe Cut Plug Italian Series is a tough ten card set picturing scenes from Italian life over the years. Each card pictures a famous Italian include Pope Leo XIII, Christopher Columbus and others. The series measures 2-5/16" by 3-13/16" and have very colorful fronts with advertising for the Black Joe Cut Plug tobacco from Buchanan & Lyall on the backs of the cards. Featuring what would today be a racist image as the advertising for Black Joe tobacco, the cards are tough to obtain.
This lot is for a group of (4) N555 Buchanan & Lyall Black Joe Cut Plug Italian Series. The cards in this lot average a pleasing GVG to about VGEX with most around VG. The subjects included in the lot are: Baia Di Napoli, Christoforo Colombo, Garibaldi and Humberto.
