The Buchner N284 set contains baseball players, police inspectors, jockeys and actors. The Policemen fall under the N284-2 classification. Within that classification, N284-2B is the classification for cards with a glossy coating on the front of the card. There are 34 known policemen checklisted in the N284-2B section of the set, most of which were from the New York and New Jersey Area. The backs of the cards advertise for the N284 set and its different component sets.
This lot is for a single N288 Buchner Gold Coin tobacco card of Captain Charles McDonnell of the 8th Precinct, New York. The card has been graded by PSA as Nearmint 7. Beautiful card that would be perfect in any high grade N287 set or for a type card collector of 19th century tobacco cards.
