The N172 Goodwin Old Judge series features the largest 19th century baseball series totaling some 520+ subjects in over 2500 total poses. Many of the cards in the series feature Hall of Fame players like Adrian "Cap" Anson, Mike Kelly, Dan Brouthers and others. The series is widely collected by baseball collectors and can be collected in many different manners. Team collectors often accumulate groups of players from their favorite teams. Hall of Fame collectors often collect a single pose of every Hall of Famer in the set or multiple poses for single Hall of Famers. It can also be collected for one of each named player in the series. Or for the variation collector who has unlimited funds--it can be collected by player pose. Within the set are many significant rarities include any of the players from the California League, the Cap Anson in uniform pose or many others from more difficult teams like the Chicago Maroons.
This lot includes a single card of Harry Decker in the "Bat at Ready/Horizontal" pose that has been graded by PSA as 1.5 or Fair. The card has a pronounced crease across the center. Both the front and back of the card have some wear with some dirt to the back and the front having a lighter photo clarity which is very common with this series and any of the albumen photo cards of the late 19th century. Nice card with a fair opening bid.
