The 1949 Topps "Magic Photos" set was large set of 250+ cards that Topps issued. There are multiple series within the set for baseball, wrestling, basketball, actors, wild west and many others. Each Series has a letter associated with it in the checklist on the back so all the wrestling is series D and has 25 subjects in the series numbered 1D - 25D. The cards are diminutive in size measure a scant 7/8" by 1-3/8". They were issued in a single card format inserted into a single piece of gum and they were also issued in strips of five in a package wrapped with gum. Popular subjects are the sports subjects, which in the case of baseball and basketball can be pretty expensive. The cards were meant to have water (or spit) applied and sat in the sun to have the photo develop on the front of the card. Cards are found with all levels of exposure--some really well-developed and others extremely faint. In general, the stronger the image, the more valuable the card is.
This lot is for a near set of the 1949 Topps "Magic Photos" Series D - Wrestling Champions. The set is complete at 25 and this lot includes 19 of those 25. The cards in this lot are in Good to VGEX condition primarily and have nice photo quality for the most part other than a couple subjects.
