The R92 Gumakers Foto Chewing Gum Movie Stars series is a (24) card set issued by Gumakers of America in 1939. Guakers also issued the R55 Frank Buck and the R156 True Spy Stories sets along with the companion 8x10 premium R95 cards to this R92 set. The cards in this series are black and white fronts with blank backs and printed on characteristic 1930's card stock. The cards have no identifying marks on who made them but have been identified from the wrapper which has the offer for the R95 Oversized premiums. The cards are rarely found and usually command a premium.
This lot is for a single R92 Gumakers Foto Chewing Gum Movie Stars card of Don Ameche. The card is in VGEX condition with mostly clean front and back. Ameche is well known for his roles in the movies Cocoon and 48 Hours and acted from this series, issued in 1939, well into the 1980's.
