The T218 Athletes set is a 153 card set picturing athletes of the day. The athletes picked for the set run the gamut from track and field to aviators to boxers to pool players. It is interesting that no baseball players were selected for the set. The cards were issued in Hassan and Mecca packages and can be found with back variations for both companies. They were also issued with Tolstoi backs and are extremely difficult to find in that configuration. The fronts are colorful representations of the athlete in action. There exists multiple cards for a few players, most notably for Jack Johnson--the heavyweight boxer. A great set to collect in many different subsets, back combinations or complete.

This lot includes a group of (6) PSA-Graded T218 cards to include the following: PSA6 EXMT (1 card: Manley), PSA5 EX (5 cards: Gissing, Jordan, Ljungstrom, Porter and R.P. Williams). PSA is tough on grading this set and these cards are well above average for the set.
