Auction #4 - January 2020

The artwork of many of the United States tobacco and gum sets was borrowed for counterparts in other countries--either issued by the U.S. Counterpart or another company entirely. Artwork for the N2 Allen & Ginter Indians may be the most often copied artwork--being used for issues in numerous countries as late as 30 years after the fact. The 1930's artwork of many of the U.S. Gum issues also seemed to be a favorite to copy. Whether Dick Tracy or G-Men or Horrors of War, sets in other countries like Canada, France, Germany, Belgium and others pop up from time to time and are a way for collectors to extend their collection--especially for sets they love.
This lot is for one of those sets utilizing the artwork of the U.S. Wild West set from Gum Inc in 1933. The Far West Gum set froim Belga Gum of Belgium borrows the artwork of the (48) cards of the Gum Inc Wild West set. The companion album for the series is included with all (48) cards from the set glued into the correct slot of the book. While it's always difficult to tell how cards could be removed without actually doing so, we believe the cards in this book could be removed without any major damage. They are for the most part in EX to NRMT condition with most being extremely nice. The album itself is about EX condition and overall very nice. Great 1930's tangent collectible from Belgium.
