The N566 Newsboy series pictures Actresses and numbers into the hundreds of cards. The Newsboy cabinets were likely point-of-sale giveaways for buying the Newsboy brand of tobacco. The cabinets are standard 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" cabinets and have an albumen photo adhered to a red-inked mount advertising Newsboy of New York at the bottom front of the cabinet. Cabinets are blank-backed and often numbered on either the cabinet front or within the photo field itself and, occasionally both places. Many actresses have multiple poses or can be found with different mounts and the set offers the variation collector some real opportunities.
This lot is for a single N567 Newsboy Tobacco Cabinet of subject #217 City Hall, New York. The cabinet is in EX to EXMT condition and very clean. The Newsboy cabinets of scenes are much tougher on average to obtain than the actors and actresses and, as such, command a premium when found.
