The N566 Newsboy series pictures Actresses and numbers into the hundreds of cards. The Newsboy cabinets were likely point-of-sale giveaways for buying the Newsboy brand of tobacco. The cabinets are standard 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" cabinets and have an albumen photo adhered to a red-inked mount advertising Newsboy of New York at the bottom front of the cabinet. Cabinets are blank-backed and often numbered on either the cabinet front or within the photo field itself and, occasionally both places. Many actresses have multiple poses or can be found with different mounts and the set offers the variation collector some real opportunities.
This lot is for a nice group of (4) male actors from the N567 Newsboy Tobacco Cabinet set. The lot includes the following subjects: #75 Robert Mantel, #131 Bernhard Stavenhagen, #136 Joseph Jefferson and #197 Richard Mansfield. All four cabinets are in EX condition and very clean.
