The N566 Newsboy series pictures Actresses and numbers into the hundreds of cards. The Newsboy cabinets were likely point-of-sale giveaways for buying the Newsboy brand of tobacco. The cabinets are standard 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" cabinets and have an albumen photo adhered to a red-inked mount advertising Newsboy of New York at the bottom front of the cabinet. Cabinets are blank-backed and often numbered on either the cabinet front or within the photo field itself and, occasionally both places. Many actresses have multiple poses or can be found with different mounts and the set offers the variation collector some real opportunities.
To find a green mount Newsboy with advertising on the back of the card is difficult, but obtainable. To find a red mount Newsboy with any type of advertising is infinitely more difficult. This lot contains a single copy of subject #53 Corinne from the N566 Newsboy set with advertising on the back for Lion Condensed Milk. This is the only cabinet we have ever seen with the Lion Condensed Milk advertisement on the back. The cabinet is in GVG to VG condition with clean advertising on the back.
