Auction #3 - October 2019

The Walter M Lowney Company was a well known chocolatier in Boston, Massachusetts. Sometime likely in the 1910's to 1920's, they issued a set of (6) postcards which were later cataloged by Jefferson Burdick in the ACC as E230 and the name "College Girls". The interesting thing about the set of (6) cards was that only (4) of the (6) postcards pictured "girls" with the other two picturing Indian Chiefs. The set is an easy set to complete and popular with the Indian subjects and due to two of the College Girls holding golf clubs.
This lot is for a single box of Lowney's Assorted Chocolates No. 600 picturing the same graphics of a girl golfer as the E230 cards. It is likely that the cards came in this box as it is sized where the card could have been inserted in this box. Overall the piece is in EX to EXMT condition and has the doily-type wrapper inside and a slip of paper guaranteeing the freshness of their product. Great grouping.
