The R8-2 Peco Candy Cigarettes set is a (28) card set that were box designs on small boxes of candy cigarettes. At a time when smoking was not quite the pariah that it is today, kids bought candy cigarettes in the dime stores of the 1930's-1980's. Pecheur Lozenge company of Brooklyn, NY was a company that made these candy cigarettes and printed cards on the boxes as a way to get kids to buy more of the candy. The R8-2 is a set of small airplane cards which were part of the box. The cards are perforated and easily punched from the box.
This lot is a complete set of (28) airplane cards. This set is interesting in that it has the top and bottom panels that are most commonly found already removed. The backs of the cards, however, have paper attached to them. The paper could likely be removed with proper procedures. The cards are overall in VGEX to EXMT condition, averaging about EX condition. Great, complete set with the original panels.
