Topps continued to capitalize on the popularity of television shows by issuing the Get Smart set in 1966. The set was issued in panels of 2 that, when separated, were square in size. The set is black and white artwork with gray or cream backs. It appears that the cream backed cards are somewhat tougher than are the gray backed cards. The cards follow the exploits of Maxwell Smart and agent 99--played by Barbara Feldon. The two were secret agents for the U.S. Government and were constantly battling the agents of KAOS. The bumbling of Maxwell Smart has been compared to a combination of James Bond and Inspector Clouseau of the Pink Panther fame. The (66) card set is popular with collectors of 1960's Topps TV series.
This set of (66) cards is largely in EX to NRMT condition. Most of the cards fall into the EXMT range with a few worse and a few better. There are (7) of the cards that have been graded by PSA including the following subjects: PSA7 (4 cards: 31, 40, 41 and 56, PSA8(OC) (1 card: 47) and PSA8 (2 cards: 38 and 45). Both PSA8 examples are one of five at the grade with only one higher for each number. This is a very clean set overall with some strong graded copies and would make a great addition to a 1960's Topps collection.
