The R146 Leader Novelty Superman set is a set of (36) card series picturing Superman and his antics in a red, white and black toned cards. The backs of the cards have a good sized narrative and the card number and title at the top center. The backs note that there were possibly a planned twelve additional cards to total (48). Leader Novelty issued these cards as part of their boxes of candy and they were perforated and intended to be punched from the box and collected. Leader has a number of series of box packaging sets like the R146. Superman's popularity was immense as is witnessed by the amount of products he adorned in the United States.
This lot includes a pair of R146 cards to include the following: #8 Breaking the Racket (G with a tear to the right side) and #13 The Bank Robbery (GVG with creases to the upper and lower left corners and a light stain on the left border. These cards are tough to find in any condition and on par in condition with the majority that have survived.
