When people discuss the most beautiful card sets of the 19th century, the N162 Goodwin Champion set almost always tops their list. The set features bright, vivid colors and pictures champions from a number of popular sports. The most popular cards from the set continue to be the eight baseball players and the Beecher football card. In addition, cards for boxers are quite popular and the set includes early cards of John L Sullivan and Jack Dempsey among others. The set also pictures famous sports figures from Chess, Pedestrian, Tennis, Wrestling, Bicycling, Billiards and Rowing. The backs of the cards contain a checklist and can be found with or without a lithographer tagline at the very bottom of the card. A companion album was issued to complement the series.

This lot is for a single N162 Card of Buffalo Bill. No single character in the late 19th century to early 20th century was as well known as William Cody a.k.a. "Buffalo Bill". His Wild West shows toured the country glamorizing life on the frontiers of the United States. This card is in Fair to Good condition with general wear and a black stain in the lower right corner that shows on both the front and back. Other than honest wear, the back is in good condition.
