Arguably the most collected set of Allen & Ginter cards along with the N2 Indians, the N28 World's Champions are a beautiful set of 50 cards. The set contains athletes from a number of different sports including 10 baseball players as well as boxers, pedestrians, wrestlers, oarsmen, billiards players and rifle shooters. Among the more famous non-baseball players in the set are Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, Jack Dempsey, Jake Kilrain and John L Sullivan. The 10 baseball players contain 6 players who were subsequently inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame including John Ward, Adrian "Cap" Anson, John Clarkson, Charles Comiskey, and Mike "King" Kelly. This set is missing those 10 baseball players but the other 40 cards are in phenomenal condition.

This near set (40/50) are in amazingly even condition ranging from VGEX to EXMT with most right around EX. Annie Oakley is VG or so with some lower right corner chipping. The card fronts are vibrant and clean and the card backs are well-printed and in great shape with just 3-4 having some level of very light toning. This grouping would be a welcome addition to any high grade 19th century tobacco collection.
