Auction #3 - October 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2019
The N166 Occupations for Women (Burlesqued) is a 50 card set picturing women in different occupations--generally with tight fitting clothing and bustiers. Likely an interesting set of the late 1880's to early 1890's, the series pictures women in jobs such as Policeman, Photographer, Sailor, Scholar, Teacher and Physician, among others. Most of the photos are 'burlesqued' or putting the women in some type of pose that enhances their figures due especially to the bustiers they are in. The card fronts are colorful images on a silvery grey background. The backs of the cards can be found with advertising for either American Eagle Tobacco or Goodwin Old Judge Cigarettes.
This lot includes a pair of N166 Occupations for Women cards--one each from Goodwin & Company and American Eagle. Included are the occupations of Door Keeper (Goodwin) and Herald (American Eagle). Both cards are in about VGEX to EX condition with very clean backs. The American Eagle card has had the letter "N" erased from the upper right corner but is otherwise a very nice card.
