Auction #3 - October 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2019
The N126 Duke's Tobacco Rulers, Flags and Arms of Nations set is a (51) card set that pictures (50) rulers and their nations and a card for Niagara Falls. The (50) rulers cards can be found with center panel advertising for Duke's Cameo Cigarettes, Turkish Cross-Cut Cigarettes or Duke's Cigarettes and offer something extra for the variation collector to consider. The cards are folded into three panels that, when folded, measure the same size as the normal-sized tobacco cards of the 1880's. The cards are condition sensitive--particularly at the folds and corners and are much thinner than the normal 19th century tobacco card. There is another format of the cards that features thicker cards and advertises the Honest Long Cut brand on the back in a non-folding format.
This lot includes all (51) cards from the series. The majority are in what would be considered GVG to VGEX condition with the majority falling into the VG range. The Niagara Falls card is separated at the left fold. A number of the backs of the cards have some staining which was likely from display in some type of album. The breakdown on the advertising for the cards in the set is as follows: Turkish Cross Cut (31), Duke's Cameo (17), Duke's Tobacco (2) and the Niagara Falls Card.
