The T115 Allen Tobacco Company issued the T115 Views and Art Studies set in the early 20th century timeframe in a square format, utilizing many of the same images of the smaller format T116 cards that they also issued. The T115's have 66 known subjects and are black and white cards--front and back--measuring 2-7/8" x 3-1/8". The cards are much tougher than their T116 counterparts, and unlike the T116, unnumbered. The backs advertise for the "Allenette" Little Cigars from the Allen Tobacco Company.
This lot includes a single graded T115 picturing Prime Minister Katsura of Japan. Katsura remains, to this day, the longest serving Prime Minister in Japan serving three periods during 1901 to 1906, 1908 to 1911 and 1912 to 1913. This card is graded SGC84 NM7 and is in beautiful condition. Great addition to a 20th century type card collection.
