The R131 Western Series of 48 strip card set, like most of the other strip card sets, was issued sometime in the mid-to-late 1930's. It's one of a number of Western-themed strip card sets and was also issued in strips of eight cards. Likely a point-of-sale promotion for some type of candy or gum purchase, the series have colorful fronts with numbered backs along with the titles of the subject on the front. The artwork, like some of the other Western strip series is borrowed from the R73 Goudey Indian series but redrawn in a more primitive look. Subjects in the set include Buffalo Bill, Jim Bridger, Yellowstone Kelly, Kit Carson, Sitting Bull, Tecumseh, Pontiac and Samoset. Scenes in the set include Davy Crockett, Custer's Last Stand and Indians Attacking Train, among others. The cards are numbered 801-848.

Condition breakdown on the set is mostly Good to VGEX with most falling into the VG- range. There are a couple of poor cards with small parts missing.
