The Monarch Tobacco Works of Louisville, Kentucky issued a small set of cards in the late 1880's to early 1890's using the original artwork from the Allen & Ginter American Indian Chiefs series. The set from Monarch numbers only (4) cards and was issued with their Kickapoo Plug Tobacco product. More often than not, these cards have some type of advertising stamp on the bottom 1/2 inch of the back of the card. Ample space was left for tobacconists to add their store name or other advertising here and there is generally a stamp of such here.
This pair of N570 cards includes the subjects Red Cloud and Keokuk and both cards have a crease in the top 1/2 of the card to put them in about GVG to VG condition. They are overall clean though and oversized compared to the N2 cards of the same artwork.
