Strip cards were issued from the 1910's through 1930's and it is believed, in most cases, as point-of-sale pieces for dime store giveaways with candy purchases. While there is no hard evidence of such, it is usually assumed this was the method of distribution. Earlier strip cards seemed to be smaller sized--akin to the tobacco cards of 19th and early 20th century. The W589 Presidents Strip card set is one of those sets that was likely issued in the 1920's at some point. While it says "Presidents" in the ACC, this strip has (9) presidents and General John J. Pershing.
Beautiful uncut strip card group of (10) cards including (9) presidents (Arthur, Cleveland, Harrison, McKinley, Roosevelt, Taft, Wilson, Harding, Coolidge) and General John J. Pershing. Pershing was a WWI hero and Commander of the American Expeditionary Forces on the Western Front in World War I, 1917–18.
