N566/N567 Newsboy Tobacco Cabinet Cards Lot of (16) Actors and Actresses

The N566 Newsboy series pictures Actresses and numbers into the hundreds of cards. The Newsboy cabinets were likely point-of-sale giveaways for buying the Newsboy brand of tobacco. The cabinets are standard 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" cabinets and have an albumen photo adhered to a red-inked mount advertising Newsboy of New York at the bottom front of the cabinet. Cabinets are blank-backed and often numbered on either the cabinet front or within the photo field itself and, occasionally both places. Many actresses have multiple poses or can be found with different mounts and the set offers the variation collector some real opportunities.

This lot includes (16) Newsboy cabinet cards of actresses in VG to EXMT condition and overall very clean. The subjects include Minnie Palmer, Emma Juch, Chas. H Hopper, Alice Evans, Sadie Kirby, Jessie Bartlett Davis (Green Mount), Catherine Grey, Mrs. Kendal, Robert Mantel, Marion Manola, Helen Bertram, Jennie Joyce, Adele Purvis Onri, Geraldine McGann, Marie Dantes, Kathryn Kidder. All cabinets have been scanned. The back of the Kidder cabinet has been scanned and we do not know if this is her autograph or just period writing.
