The R58 Generals and their Flags set was one of many strip card sets issued in the 1930's. Believed to have been point-of-sale giveaways with the purchase of gum or other products at the dime stores of the day, Burdick cataloged most all of them under the "R" heading. Most were issued in strips of (8) uncut cards to be cut at a later time. Finding cleanly cut cards can sometimes prove a challenge as many times they were crudely torn or not a great deal of effort was put into getting them squared off.

The set is a complete set of (24) cards along with (17) color variations for the set, totaling (41) cards from the set. The cards picture a famous real-life general from a country along with the flag of that country. Famous generals such as Pershing from the US, Chiang Kai Shek of China and Simon Bolivar of Venezuela are pictured on the cards. The color variations for the set have different colored stripes at the bottom and top of the cards.

Condition breakdown on the set is a pleasing VGEX to EX for all (24) set cards
