1950 Topps Freedom's War Complete Set of (203) Cards

One of Topp's early offerings and one of their larger early sets, the 1950 Freedom's War set was (203) cards picturing scenes of the Korean War. The set was apparently issued over a two year period in different series with cards found in either two card panels or single cards in packs. The two card panels were issued in cello and boxed packs and the single cards in one and five cent packages. The first group of cards through card #72 were created using artwork with cards #73-#96 feature Army Photos. Cards #97-#103 were the tank cards--found either die cut or uncut. Cards #104-#127 feature photographs, Cards #128-#177 feature artwork with the rest featuring Army Photos.

The final series mostly picture patches of individual army divisions but also feature photo cards of Patton, Jimmy Doolittle, George Marshall, Dwight D Eisenhower and Omar Bradley among others.

(22) Total PSA-Graded Cards including the following: PSA9OC (1) #11, PSA8 (1) #26, PSA7 (10) #2, 10, 21, 30, 47, 55, 64, 79, 91, 122, PSA6 (3) #18, 135, 155. All (7) Tanks have been graded by PSA as well with the following grades: #97 (PSA6), #98 (PSA6), #99 (PSA5), #100 (PSA2), #101 (PSA7), #102 (PSA8), #103 (PSA6). All (7) Tanks are of the die cut variety. Of the (181) ungraded cards the condition breakdown is as follows: VG or LESS (27 or 15%), VGEX to EX (117 or 65%) and EXMT to NRMT (37 or 20%). The set is a very high quality set that would fit in with the best of collections. 16 pages or 64 cards have been scanned that include nearly all the graded cards, all the graded tanks, and are representative of the quality of the set.

Originating in the collection of a very advanced PSA collector, this set and a number of others in the auction are high mid-grade sets mostly free of creases and individually sleeved in semi-rigids housed in 4 pocket pages in binders. As with this set, many of the sets are mostly ungraded with some nice or key cards graded as noted.
