The R142 Goudey Soldier Boys cards were issued in 1933 like many of the other Goudey Issues. As one of the smaller Goudey sets, it is a relatively easy set to complete. The set pictures soldiers in uniform from 24 different countries including Japan, Russia, the US and others. The U.S. cards in the set include an Admiral and the U.S. Marines. The set is colorful and the wrapper is a beautiful representation of a popular subject in the 1930's--War.
This uncut sheet of (24) cards represents a complete set of the R142 Soldier Boy series. The condition could not be described as anything but poor to fair as all 4 corners have some chipping issues, there is a tear in the top center that runs nearly the length of the top row of cards and there are other folds and pinholes on the sheet. Given the immense rarity of this type of thing for 1930's gum cards, it should be noted, however, that this survivor may be one of just a very small handful and we are lucky that it is still intact and wasn't cut up into single cards at any point in the last 86 years. Beautiful piece of ephemera history and guideline to how the cards were laid out on the sheet for printing.
