The Button Gum Company issued buttons in packages in the early 1930's from a number of sets. This set is of Scouts and Indians of the Wild West. There are (10) scouts included as well as (10) Indians. These are often associated with Cracker Jacks and while we are not sure if Cracker Jack also inserted them into products, the Button Gum wrappers definitively prove that they were issued in that manner.
This complete set of (20) buttons is in VGEX to EX condition and very uniformly clean. The Scouts include Kit Carson, Daniel Boone, Capt. D.L. Payne, Wild Bill Hickok, Gen. Israel Putnam, Capt. William Clark, David Crockett, Gen. Wm. S. Harney, Caqpt. Meriwether Lewis and White Beaver. The Indian Chiefs include Red Cloud, Red Jacket, Joseph Brant, Sounding Sky, Massasoit, King Philip, White Cap, Tecumseh, Osceola, Weasel Calf. Great, clean set of these popular pins.
