The R165 War News Pictures set was another effort by Gum Inc and totaled (144) cards. The cards were issued between 1939 and 1940 leading up to the US Involvement in WWII. The cards have distinct series of black and white photos or blue and red art drawn cards. The set also pictures a couple of scarce series--the near-impossible Dirty Dozen cards and the Flash cards that are tough but obtainable. The set is very popular among 1930's "R" card collectors, war collectors and others.
This lot includes (6) PSA-Graded R165 War News Pictures cards to include the following: #15 Decontamination Squad PSA5 EX, #90 Hela Peninsula Finally Surrenders PSA4 VGEX, #93 British Flyers Down Nazis PSA3 VG, #94 British Destroyer PSA54, #96 Nazi Bombers Raid Scotland PSA4 VGEX and #99 Ghost Plane Lands with the Goods PSA4 VGEX. Great lot for the set builders out there.
