The 1945–46 Caramelo Deportivo baseball card set is a historically significant Cuban issue produced by the candy company Felices during the 1946–47 winter league season. Comprising 185 black-and-white cards, each measuring approximately 1-7/8" x 2-5/8", the set features players from eight Cuban professional teams. Notably, it includes prominent figures from Major League Baseball, the Negro Leagues, and Latin American leagues, such as Martín Dihigo, Minnie Miñoso, and Raymond Brown. The set is distinguished by its integration of players across racial lines, reflecting the more inclusive nature of Cuban baseball during an era when segregation was still prevalent in the United States . Collectors could obtain an accompanying album to paste the cards into, with the final card, #73 featuring Napoleón Reyes, being issued only upon completion of the set, adding an element of challenge and exclusivity . Due to their age and the fragile paper stock, these cards are rare today, especially in good condition, making them highly sought after by collectors and historians alike .?
