Schapira Brothers issued a number of boxes of candy in the 1920's and 1930's with different subjects on them. The candy boxes measure about 2" x 3" on the side and the pictures on the boxes were often cut off. There is a very popular Babe Ruth set, a set of cards picturing circus animals, a set picturing comic characters with 'googlie' eyes and this set--picturing the antics of Mutt & Jeff. Most of the sets are in groups of 6-8 cards and most boxes picture a card on both the front and the back of the box.
This lot is for a single card from the Schapira Brothers candy box set picturing the antics of Mutt and Jeff. The card has been cut from the box and is for Series 4, picture D. The card has some obvious condition issues but is still presentable with clean front and back. Great type card to add to a world class type card set.
