National Licorice issued the African Jig card set sometime in the early 1930's. The set is a 24 card set picturing African animals in natural habitat in kind of muted colors on the card fronts. The card backs are numbered at the top with the card title and some history about the animal pictured on the front. The bottom of the back advertises for the National Licorice Company of Brooklyn, Philadelphia and Moline, Illinois. The back states that, when assembled in order, card numbers 1 to 24 will build a beautiful African Jungle Scene sized 9-1/2 inches by 17-1/4 inches. Oddly enough, the wrapper for the set, included in this lot, is even more colorful than the cards themselves. Most all of the animals pictured in the set are pictured on the wrapper in a beautiful scene. The wrapper is arguably one of, if not the most colorful ones of the 1930's. If you are a wrapper collector, this has to be on your list.
The wrapper is in beautiful EX to EXMT condition with no real issues. This would be a fantastic addition to even the best wrapper collections extant.
