The R197 Blatz Gum Screen Stars set was issued in 1920 and could technically be part of the "E" classification. The "R" classification typically begins around 1930 or so. The set are slightly oversized at 3-1/2" by 5-1/2" and sized about the size of an exhibit card. There are (20) cards in the set and a companion string-bound album was issued to house the cards. The most famous subject in the book is the card that pictures the cast from "Our Gang". The cards are black and white, printed on very thin paper, and have advertising and a checklist on the back of the card.
This is a companion album with a complete set of the Blatz Gum cards neatly pasted in. Both the album and the associated cards within the album are in VGEX to EXMT conditionu and very clean. That this album remains today in this condition is a testament to the original collector who mounted the cards and the fact that someone stored it away, outside of the sunlight and took great care to keep it in this shape. There is an additional card adhered to the inside back cover of Glen Tryon that is likely a W618 Kashin card or possibly an unlisted E243 Brody Novelty Card. All pages--interior and exterior covers--have been scanned for large format viewing.
