In 1935, the Dixie Lid company began a run of 20 years of issuing small lids for their ice cream cups picturing movie stars and western heroes. In addition, they issued lids picturing Baseball stars and other subjects like animals and scenes of war. In addition to the smaller lids, they also issued 8" wide by 10" tall premiums that could be had for mail in redemption. They were very colorful representations of the smaller lids in the series and could be assembled into a booklet with generic front and back covers issued for each year's premiums. The series lasted through 1954 and are popular with movie star and western card collectors and also the baseball premiums and lids are popular with sports collectors. Due to the size of the premiums and the manner of issuance of the lids, they are all condition conscious. With holes pre-punched in the premiums, those spots are most fragile and often the premiums are found with round, white hole punch reinforcements added to the premiums.
