Topps and Bowman used the artwork on these cards for a number of sets including this 1952 Bowman set, the 1956 Topps set and a refreshed 1970 Topps set. This set is a set of (36) cards issued by Bowman in 1952. The cards are the larger format Bowman cards of the 1953-55 Bowman baseball fame and similar to the Power for Peace and other early Bowman nonsports cards. The pictures are colorful and backs are plain black and white printed.
This 36-card series features color art
portraits of US presidents through Eisenhower, as well as a few cards devoted to early American
history, such as the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The backs of the cards contain
relevant historical information. This set averages a strong NM- Eleven of the cards have been
graded by PSA with an average grade of 7.22, or NM+. You will likely not see a set of
comparable quality come on the market for a long time. Just try and upgrade this set! All cards
stored in Cardsaver 1 holders and mounted in plastic pages in a looseleaf binder, for convenient
viewing. Exceptional! Includes a nice copy of the Classics Illustrated special issue, “The
Illustrated Story of American Presidents.”
