Inaugural January 2019 Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 1/27/2019
The artwork done originally by Allen & Ginter for their acclaimed N2 American Indians set may be the most widely used artwork throughout all of the nonsports card world. This lot includes (6) PSA-graded cards from the V254 Papoose Gum set, issued by the Canadian Chewing Gum Company. The set totals 50 cards, mirroring the American N2 set and so many others of the day. Like the British BAT set and some of the other sets, the Papoose Gum set uses reversed, embellished images on the card fronts. The cards have blue borders and the use of blue and red coloring on the Indian's pictures is more pronounced than other versions of the card set. Additional feathers or scarves have frequently been added to nearly every subject. The Papoose Gum version was likely issued sometime around the early 1930's. Due to the stock used to print the cards, they are often found in lower condition, so this lot is a nice start to a beautiful set.
This mid-grade lot of (6) cards are all graded PSA EX 5. The lot includes the following subjects: #9 Cayatanita, #10 Red Bird, #12 Great Bear, #25 John Yellow Flower, #29 Red Thunder and #30 Always Riding.
