The 1916 Tango Eggs baseball card set is one of the most mysterious and rarest collections in the hobby, consisting of only 22 known subjects. These cards were distributed as premiums with Tango Eggs, a brand of eggs, and feature player portraits or action shots with the player's name and team printed in a simple, elegant font below the image. The cards are similar in style to other sets from the same era, but their unique distribution method and the limited number of surviving cards make them particularly valuable. Notable players in the set include Hall of Famers like Ty Cobb, whose card is one of the most sought-after in the hobby. The 1916 Tango Eggs set is a true gem for collectors, representing a unique intersection of baseball history and early 20th-century advertising.
This single 1916 Tango Eggs card is of the subject Hal Chase that has been graded SGC40 or VG 3. The card has a slight diamond cut to it which is very common for the issue but the front and back are both very clean. Great type card for the prewar collector.
