The R168 War Scenes set was issued in 1942 and is one of the numerous strip card sets issued likely as point-of-sale pieces for candy in the dime stores of the day. The set pictures scenes from World War II in crude art deco type artwork. The cards picture planes, ships and other participants from the war effort. Douglass MacArthur, Churchill, Jimmy Dolittle and Admiral Nimitz are some of the famous Americans pictured on the cards. The set was issued by M.P. and Company or Michael Pressner & Company. They issued a number of strip cards including one of the baseball strip card sets. The cards can be found with black, purple and blue printed backs for the variation collectors. The blue and purple printed backs are somewhat more scarce than the black printed ones. The set is titled on the front and numbered on the back from 101-148. The cards can have the M.P. & Co manufacturer on the back or not.
This near set of (44/48) cards from the R168 M. Pressner War Scenes set are in Good to EX condition, averaging VGEX for the most part with a few lesser. The missing cards from the set are #102, #104, #117 and #119
