The N8 Allen & Ginter Fish from American Waters set is one of two fish-themed sets Allen & Ginter produced in the late 1880's picturing the same artwork. The companion N39 set uses the same N8 artwork with some additional embellishing on the margins of the card in a larger format. The artwork would be used in a number of sets into the 1910's and 1920's from the US and Canada and used abroad for American Tobacco Company. The images from the series were also used for the later series T407A and T407B as well as the T58 set--all of which were issued in the 1910's.
This group of (5) cards includes a pair of N8 Allen & Ginter Fish from American Waters cards in VG to VGEX condition including the subjects: Bluefish and Toadfish. The other (3) cards are from the T407A American Tobacco Company series and are in VGEX to EX with the subjects of Porpoise, Sheepshead and Striped Bass. Great mixed group of these popular fish cards.
